Keswick’s first match at Davidson Park since mid-October resulted in a 31-0 win over Leigh.
It follows flooding problems and a glut of away games, which leaves seven of the final ten games to be played at home.
Earlier in the season at Leigh, two home tries in the last three minutes meant Keswick lost by four points.
On a heavy pitch Keswick enjoyed early pressure and from an attacking line-out they ran the ball but were met by a stout defence.
When they were awarded a scrum they drove over but were unable to touch down. Penalty advantage meant Keswick could choose another scrum but despite a good drive the ball was held up over the line again and Leigh dropped out to clear.
When Leigh kicked into the Keswick half, their first such foray since the kick-off, a 50-22 return kick gave the throw in to the hosts who caught and drove for Karl Smyth to touch down on 20 minutes.
A good run by Chris Potter was stopped just short of the line on 30 minutes and possession lost so Leigh were able to clear.
The line-out was proving challenging for Keswick, with a number of throws not hitting the target. Leigh had their own problems, and a third high tackle in not many more minutes resulted in a yellow card for the third offender.
A Keswick line-out 15 metres out was driven almost to the line, recycled, but again not touched down and Leigh were able to drop out to clear once more.
A good attack with inter-play between backs and forwards on the right was passed back to Billy Thompson, whose cross kick was fielded by Danny Craghill and he had an easy run-in on the left. Thompson converted.
From the kick-off the ball was run back but knocked forward and Leigh had the scrum put in on the half-way.
They were pushed off the ball, which was collected and passed to Potter who made an excellent 35 metre run to touch down for an unconverted try.
Trailing 17-0 at the break Leigh seemed rejuvenated on the resumption but the Keswick defence proved solid and won turn over ball.
When Thompson kicked left for Potter to catch the ball, he was well backed up by James Hinkley. In fact he was not needed as Potter ran round to touch down close to the posts for the bonus point. Thompson converted on 50 minutes.
Leigh’s improved performance continued but they were unable to dominate as Keswick put together some good phases to keep the pressure on.
During a rare attack into the Keswick 22, Leigh won a penalty which they tapped and ran left, but the final pass went into touch, taking with it their best scoring opportunity.
A penalty to Keswick was kicked to touch but when they won it the ball was knocked on.
Leigh were awarded a scrum, won the ball and kicked to clear but it went to Christian Sellars who broke a number of tackles before being brought up just short.
The ball was recycled to Stephen Moss who crossed for a try, again converted by Thompson.
On Saturday Keswick travel the 140 miles to the Wirral to face top of the table Anselmians who have won all 14 North Two West games.
Keswick are the only side to deny the League leaders a bonus point to date.
