Tripadvisor ranks four Cumbrian hotels among UK’s best for Valentine’s Day

Tripadvisor has named four Cumbrian restaurants among the UK’s best for Valentine’s Day.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, the review site has compiled the best places for ‘date night’ and the ‘best for romance’.

A bite to eat – top 10 UK restaurants named ‘best for date night’ in the 2021 Travellers’ Choice Awards:

  1. The Old Stamp House Restaurant – Ambleside

Standout dish: Beetroot macaroons with horseradish.

  1. Paul Ainsworth at No. 6 – Padstow, Cornwall

Standout dish: Raw Sea bream, sand shrimp slaw and katsuobushi mayonnaise.

  1. Antidote – Ilfracombe, Devon

Standout dish: Duck liver parfait, with rings of lightly pickled onion. 

  1. Corner Grill House – York, Yorkshire

Standout dish: Rump steak, triple cooked chips and pan-fried mushrooms.

  1. Samphire Seafood Restaurant – Inveraray, Argyll and Bute

Standout dish: Half a lobster and cod wrapped in Pancetta. 

  1. Marmalade’s Bistro – Sheringham, Norfolk

Standout dish: Warm chocolate orange brownie with ice cream and raspberry coulis.

  1. Kysty Ambleside – Ambleside

Standout dish: Black pudding bonbon.

  1. Wayfarer Bistro – Robin Hoods Bay, Yorkshire

Standout dish: Monkfish and tiger prawn Thai curry. 

  1. One Fish Street – St Ives, Cornwall

            Standout dish: Crab tartlet with wagyu mayonnaise and caviar.

  1. The Hall – Restaurant of St Mary’s Hall Hotel – Hugh Town, St Mary’s, Isle of Scilly

Standout dish: Rhubarb and custard baked Alaska.

An overnight treat – top 10 UK hotels named ‘best for Romance’ in the 2021 Travellers’ Choice Awards:

  1. Haytor Hotel – Torquay, Devon
  2. The Norfolk Mead Hotel – Coltishall, Norfolk
  3. Tavistock House Hotel – Tavistock, Devon
  4. Crowndale Hotel, Torquay – Devon
  5. The Cottage in the Wood – Braithwaite
  6. Ivybank Lodge – Blairgowrie, Perth and Kinross
  7. The Marstan, Torquay, Devon
  8. Marine Court, Ilfracombe, Devon
  9. Knockendarroch Hotel – Pitlochry, Perth and Kinross
  10. Cedar Manor – Windermere
