A Lake District activity centre for veterans and their families has been awarded £30,000.
The grant from the Veterans’ Foundation will fund adventure-based activities and camps for veterans and their families affected by service-related mental health issues at Woodland Xperiences.
The community interest company on the shore of Windermere, provides eco adventure therapy-based activity camps using woodland, land and water-based activities to support ex-armed forces and serving personnel, including their families.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Veterans’ Foundation for recognising the importance and outcomes of Woodland Xperiences,” said Ady Martin, founder and director of Woodland Xperiences.
“Knowing that we can provide more successful camps for our service community and their families is another positive step forwards to recovery as an individual or family.”
The one and two-day camps provide participants the opportunity to talk and receive assistance with their post-traumatic growth and the inclusion of their families help to create a safe, conversational environment.
