A café business founded in Cleator Moor has announced its latest move.
Deja Brew launched a mere three weeks before the UK’s first lockdown in March 2020. Their team are now looking forward to serving even more people, as they have acquired new premises, on the Sneckyeat Industrial Estate in Whitehaven. Deja Brew now has a total of three sites, including Cleator Moor and Egremont.
Deja Brew’s founder Thomas Cheung said he is over the moon to open another outlet: “It wouldn’t be possible to expand and experience this growth without the ongoing support from our team and customers, so a big thank you to you all. I’m so proud of what we have achieved, this growth was a dream, and we’ve managed to make it a reality.
“The fact we have been able to expand so quickly, factoring in the coronavirus pandemic, is credit to West Cumbria, our area is absolutely fantastic at rallying around small businesses. The building that we have taken over was formerly known as Pies and More which was also a Thai takeaway.
“Pies and More had a fantastic reputation and had been around for many years, it’s humbling to step into this building, we’ve got big boots to fill!”
Deja Brew serves a selection of homemade breakfast and lunch items such as mac and cheese and vegetable soups, as well as hot meals in the evening between Thursday and Sunday. Their famous items Hong Kong Bubble Waffles and Bubble Tea will also be available at their new outlet.
Deja Brew now hires 15 people in West Cumbria, 26-year-old Thomas hopes this headcount will continue to increase, he added: “Employing local people, celebrating their hard work, success and team effort is one of my favourite parts about owning a business. I find it rewarding to provide these opportunities, we have a great team, without them, we simply wouldn’t have such a thriving business.
“I’m excited to see more people enjoying our delicious products, our menu and offerings will also continue to diversify this year.”
Deja Brew’s Whitehaven manager Sophie Benn added: “The opening of our third branch is an exciting one for myself and my colleagues. We are looking forward to seeing all of our regular customers over the next few weeks and can’t wait to show people what we have been working on, behind the scenes.
“The relocation will provide us with more space to help with our expansion plans and it will better serve our customers, many of whom have been travelling to our other two branches. The Sneckyeat launch will also see our evening menu closer to our customers in Whitehaven.”
Their Whitehaven outlet is open now and has both collection and delivery offering, and they whip up their famous items 7 days a week.
