A new Carlisle dog grooming salon has welcomed its first four legged customers.

The Muddy Paw Carlisle is operating from a refurbished grooming salon within garden centre Houghton Hall on the northern outskirts of the city.

The launch of the Carlisle premises marked the beginning of an expansion venture for the Northampton-based firm, owned by James Rubython.

The firm has recruited a team of certified grooming experts, with lead dog groomer Chanelle McDowell and dog grooming assistant Chloe Watmough, leading the Carlisle branch.

Alongside traditional grooming services, the team provides additional, extra special treatments too, from pawdicures to deep facial cleanses and puppy pamper packages.

The new salon also provides tailored canine wellness treatments too — with a particular focus on pet mental health. On site, the team members can provide advice for owners on specific wellbeing issues, as well as general pet care queries.

James said: “We’ve enjoyed a genuine buzz towards our unique offering in Carlisle, bringing grooming and wellness all under one roof to give owners total convenience.

“We’re placing a lot of emphasis on the link between our services and overall pet wellbeing.

“For dogs, life after lockdown has meant readjusting to owners being away from home more, leading to increased rates of pet anxiety. Getting your dog into a consistent wellness routine may help to alleviate signs of this, while also giving them more socialisation opportunities too.”
