An outline application to build homes on agricultural land in Wetheral is set to be discussed by the city council.
Carlisle City Council’s planning panel is to meet at the Civic Centre tomorrow at 10am and one of the builds they will give a verdict on is a planned residential development on land to the west of Steeles Bank, Wetheral.
Although the application has been submitted in outline and only requests permission for the principle of development on the land, early plans are to build around 70 homes.
Officers’ recommendations are to grant planning permission for a residential development on the land, subject to a series of conditions being met.
The applicant, Simtor Ltd, will be asked to complete a section 106 agreement, to include the requirement that 30 per cent of the development is made up of affordable homes.
Simtor Ltd will be also be asked to make a £5,500 contribution to traffic-calming measures, a contribution of £233,660 to Cumbria County Council for primary school places and £142,500 must also be paid to the county council for school transport provision.
The development, if approved, is set to be built on a site on the southern edge of Wetheral.
