Services running through Carlisle railway station are facing cancellations and delays of up to an hour due to a broken down train.
The 4.18pm Northern service from Carlisle to Leeds has been delayed, with no estimated time for departure available.
Delays also face passengers travelling from Carlisle to Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The London Euston service due to arrive in Carlisle at 5pm is now expected at 5.25pm.
