JJs B are now just one win away from their maiden title as their main rivals lost.

In the latest round of matches in the JJ’s-sponsored Workington Pool League they hosted in-form Packhorse A.

It was the Seaton team who took the first two frames before the JJ’s B fight-back started.

Potting machine Kevin Forster cleared from the break for the third match in succession.

Also for the third match in a row JJ’s B found themselves at 4-4, but in true championship fashion they have found a way to win the deciders.

It again fell to Martyn Fisher and Geoff Banton to deliver, which they duly did for the 5-4 win.

Senhouse Street, who had steadily climbed up to second in the table entertained Station Rd C but their mistakes proved costly.

Dave Bateman and Charlie Cairns, in particular, capitalised to give Station Rd a 4-0 lead.

Senhouse made a fight of it but couldn’t snatch the win as Station Rd secured the points at 5-4.

The Vets looked to get back to winning ways but Station Road D, on a three-match winning streak, proved too strong. Dave Edwards capped an impressive singles display to give them an unassailable 5-1 lead.

Station Rd closed out the match 6-3 to move joint second.

Tony Elliot got the Grapes off to a good start against JJ’s A as both teams looked to put their struggling form behind them.

The Grapes went 4-2 up and Elliot, alongside Ian Gorman, secured them the points with a 5-4 victory.

Harrington Legion kept hopes alive of retaining A league status when they defeated bottom side Station Rd B 6-3, which confirmed their relegation to the B league next season.

The B league title race is hotting up with four sides trying to secure the two promotion places and the championship.

Chris Black continued Cons Club’s impressive singles form which has only seen them drop one frame in two matches. They visited Lifeboat B and secured an 8-1 win to keep them second.

Packhorse continue to lead the B league thanks to a 5-4 victory against Miners.

The Grapes A made it five wins in a row away at Railway Club as Barry Graham clinched the winning frame in a 7-2 victory.

Skinny Jimmy’s moved up to eighth thanks to an 8-1 victory over Chasers while t6he same score-line was also achieved by Lifeboat A against Seaton Royal Oak..
