Kendal Town have signed defender Cameron Gourley who will go straight into the team to host Mossley.
Gourley, 21, has played at AFC Blackpool, Squires Gate, Bamber Bridge and Colne, and joins a Kendal side gradually being reshaped for next season whichever League they will be playing in.
Kendal had been trying to bring in a second player in time for the Mossley game as manager Dave Woodruff looks to end their sequence of games without a win.
In other areas, though, the Mintcakes are making progress in developing, reshaping and creating a proper community club.
On Thursday night the club celebrated International Women’s Day with a series of games at Parkside Road, involving different age groups. The Westmorland FA and Myerscough College provided teams for a tournament at the ground.
At the same time Westmorland FA ran indoor workshops for the girls not playing providing information on playing opportunities in the UK and abroad, career and educational pathways and the importance of as healthy lifestyle.
Kendal chairman Michael O’Neill said: “We wanted to encourage girls to pay the game and show what we can do in the community at Kendal to encourage them. It was a well-supported night and is something we want to develop.”
