Barrow have joined the sack race – the ninth club in League’s Two’s bottom half to change their manager this season.
Mark Cooper has paid the price for not being able to move his side away from the danger zone.
Yesterday’s 2-1 home defeat by Carlisle United proved a defeat too many, leaving the Bluebirds 21st in the table six points off the drop, but having played a game more than Oldham Athletic.
The Barrow chairman Paul Hornby said: “Mark Cooper has today left his role as first team manager at Barrow AFC by mutual consent.
“The club can confirm that assistant manager Richard Dryden has also left The Dunes Hotel Stadium.
“After discussions on Saturday, it was ultimately decided that we would go our separate ways.
“We would like to thank both Mark and Richard for their efforts during their time at Barrow and wish them every success in the future.
We will provide supporters with a further update in due course.”
Walsall (14th), Bradford City (15th), Carlisle United (17th), Leyton Orient (18th), Colchester (20th), Stevenage (22nd), Oldham (23rd) and Scunthorpe (24th) have all sacked their managers and appointed successors. Stevenage and Carlisle have done it twice.
