Packhorse B lead the race in the JJ’s Workington Pool B League.

With three games to play they maintained their two-point lead over the chasing pack as they visited Chasers.

Club captain Shaun Johnson continued his good form for Packhorse as they swept aside Chasers 9-0.

The Cons club’s David Austin set the team off to what seemed was going to be an easy win when they went 4-2 ahead.

But Skinny Jimmy’s fought back to make it 4-4 before Chris Black and Jason Hayton gave the Cons Club the win to maintain joint second place.

Lifeboat A looked to join Packhorse B at the top of the league but found themselves 4-0 down as Callum Brown helped give the Railway Club a surprise lead.

The Lifeboat, on the cusp of defeat, woke-up and reeled-off three frames but  were eventually thwarted as Brown earned his second win of the night alongside Brian Kendal to help steer the Railway to a 5-4 victory.

The Miners Arms made it three wins from four matches as Paul Kelly’s opening frame win set them on course for a 7-2 victory over Seaton Royal Oak.

In the A league Station Road D ruined JJ’s B’s title-winning night.

With JJ’s B needing one more win to secure the A league crown, all seemed on course as Kevin Kirkham won the first frame for them.

but Gareth Pattinson inspired a six frame winning streak to make it five wins in a row for Station Rd.

The 6-3 victory leaves them joint second in the league alongside Senhouse Street who capitalised on Harrington Legion’s errors to win 5-4.

Hudson Irving capped off an impressive singles display for the Vets that saw them win the first five frames for a 5-4 win over JJ’s.

Station Road C edged away from the relegation zone thanks to a 5-4 victory over The Grapes.

Packhorse A kept their top four hopes alive with a 6-3 victory over Station Rd B.
