FC Cosmos have won the Kenny Hailes Memorial Trophy for the first time after an exciting final against Thornhill.
The game finished 1-1 and had to be settled by penalties with Cosmos claiming the trophy after they won the shoot-out 5-3.
The game was a thoroughly entertaining contest, a good advert for the Egremont and District Sunday League.
Next week the two sides meet again in the John Dixon Memorial Trophy, silverware presented in memory of a very fine player from Cleator Moor who sadly died much too young.
In yesterday’s final Owen Woods actually scored two penalties, once during the game and then during the shoot-out. Alan Cardy, Stuart Shaw, Aidan Graham and Ben Graham were also successful for Cosmos.
