Workington play one of their two catch-up games tonight on NPL West leaders Warrington Rylands.
It should be third time lucky as they visit Bootle where two previous attempts to play the fixture were postponed.
On the first occasion the pitch was waterlogged and last month the Reds bus was turned back at Bassenthwaite because Bootle had discovered a tear in their artificial surface.
Bootle’s challenge for a play-off place has fallen away recently as they have lost their last four games – Runcorn Linnets away, 3-1); Kidsgrove Athletic home, 0-3); Clitheroe (home 1-2) and on Saturday Leek Town (away, 3-1).
In their last four games Reds have scrambled a 2-1 home win over Trafford; a 1-0 victiory at Ramsbottom (both with late goals); drawn 0-0 at Ptrescot and beat Colne 2-0 on Saturday.
Record goalscorer Scott Allison missed the last game as he was attending a wedding but will be back in the squad tonight but it is unlikely that Brad Hubbold will be back to bolster the midfield.
Hubbold has a hamstring injury and it’s more likely he will; be kept back for Saturday’s top-of-the-table battle at Borough Park against Warrington Rylands.
There’s little doubt that Rylands will be represented at Bootle tonight as it is the only game on the NPL West fixture list.
It’s a game Reds simply have to win and manager Chris Willcock it was Bootle who put a spanner in the works at Borough Park early in the season.
On a foul Tuesday night at Borough Park Bootle fully deserved a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw.
