Two games kick off Cumberland ARL action

Two games in the Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL First Division kick off the weekend’s amateur local action.

Seaton took a major step in applying successfully to join the National Conference League, leaving their A team to contest the Cumberland ARL.

They were involved in a good game at Egremont A last Friday and it could be another decent contest tonight at Hensingham A.

Kells A are traditionally strong and will be fancied to contest the title in the First Division.

They visit Ellenborough A tonight and the reigning Premier Division champions are looking to their revived A team to provide solid backing.

The third scheduled game between Cockermouth A and Egremont A has been put back to later in the season on the agreement of both clubs.

The shortage of referees has prompted the decision to play First Division games on the Friday, with the Premier Division fixtures played on Saturdays.

Best game tomorrow could be the town derby with Ellenborough hosting their local rivals Maryport.

It’s very early days but Ellenborough and Distington look likely to be the front runners this season in the top flight.

Wath Brow A were in the shake-up last season and tomorrow travel to Aspatria who are looking for their first win.

The Hornets’ game last week at Cockermouth was abandoned early in the second-half when one of their players suffered a serious injury.

Completing the fixture list tomorrow is the clash between Lowca and Glasson, which promises to be a close contest.
