Two lanes closed on M6 southbound between Shap and Crooklands after serious crash

One lane has reopened after a serious crash on the M6 in Cumbria.

Police were called before 5.30am today to the collision between junctions 37 and 38.

A full closure was put in place on the southbound carriageway between junction 39 for Shap and junction 36 for Crooklands to aid the diversion.

The force has confirmed that one lane has now reopened.

Cumbria Police are dealing with a serious RTC on the M6 Southbound between Junctions 36/37/38, the motorway is closed off while we deal with the incident. Diversion signs will be posted accordingly on the motorway. More updates to follow in due course.
