The Grapes team who won the APH Travel Plate Knockout final

JJ’s B clinched the APH Travel Knockout Cup in the Workington Pool League with a 5-3 victory over Station Road C.

The Station Road side were looking to put relegation behind them and finish the season on a high.

They got off to a good start when Dave Bateman gave them the lead but were pegged back as Dan Long and Paul Vickers put JJ’s ahead.

The match swung back and forth as the singles ended 3-3.

Shane Evitts and Vickers put JJ’s within victory which was confirmed thanks to an 8th frame victory by Dan Long and Michael Craig for the 5-3 win and the title.

In the APH Plate knockout final the Grapes dominated Packhorse.

The surprise one-sided affair saw Tony Elliot, Mark Cowen, Alan Stephenson, Kenny Kirkwood and Alan Cavanaugh secure frame wins as they ran out 5-0 winners.

In the race for the A league top-four knockout, JJ’s B found themselves in a last frame shoot out against the Vets.

It was Dan Long and Wayne Dustin who kept their composure for JJ’s B to send them into the final on the back of a 5-4 victory.

They will face Station Rd D in the final as, despite Senhouse taking a 3-1 lead, they couldn’t maintain their form as Station Rd reeled off the final four frames they needed to win 5-3.

In the B league top four, newly crowned champions Packhorse B couldn’t add to their impressive season as the Cons Club were in top form with an impressive 5-1 victory.

The Cons will play Lifeboat A who needed Sam Williamson and David Trainor to win their final frame decider and the match 5-4.
