Workington Town have been able to bring in reinforcements ahead of their Betfred Championship game at home to Batley Bulldogs on Sunday.
The Davies twins – two tough utility forwards who have been playing in France – have joined the club forn the rest of the season.
While full-back Luke Broadbent, who has been on loan from Warrington Wolves, is now being allowed to stay with Town until the end of the season.
Connor and Curtis Davies joined the Town squad at training last night and fit from a physical campaign in France they will be ready to go on Sunday.
Broadbent, 19, son of ex-Barrow, Whitehaven and Salford star Gary Broadbent signed for the Wolves three years ago and has impressed since joining Town last month.
Unfortunately he has been suffering from glandular fever and hepatitis and even spent a couple of days in hospital, so has missed Town’s last two games.
He’s been back in training and will be included in the 21-strong squad which coach Chris Thorman will name later today.
The Davies twins have both been playing for Villeneuve in France’s Elite One Championship after both started their professional careers with Halifax.
Curtis played 16 times between 2018 and 2021, scoring one try and had one game on loan with Newcastle Thunder early in his Halifax career. He has played three times for the Welsh senior side and three times for their Nines team.
Twin Connor has a similar record with 15 senior games for Halifax and one try; three senior Welsh caps and two for the Nines.
Coach Thorman said: “Connor and Curtis are both Welsh internationals that have recently been playing in the French competition. They’re both utility forwards which will give us some versatility in the pack.
“After speaking to them both, they are really enthusiastic to contribute to the group and I’m really looking forward to seeing what they’re capable of.”
Will Tate, the centre who has impressed in both games against Whitehaven and Dewsbury, has been recalled by parent club Hull KR and has been included in their Super League squad for tonight’s match with Leeds.
“He’s done really well, offering a big threat on our left edge, but I’m hopeful that we haven’t seen the last of him and he could be back with us for the Barrow game,” said Thorman.
