Lowca haul down Cockermouth’s Jack Clark (Ben Challis)

Cockermouth staged a strong second-half performance to reach the semi-final of the BARLA Cumbria Cup.

They had trailed 12-10 at home to Lowca but came through to win impressively 36-26.

Jack Clark put in a good shift for the Titans, scoring two tries and kicking four goals for a 16-point contribution.

Ryan Scott, however, picked-up another man of the match performance, scoring two tries in the process and might have had even more.

Jack Lewis also did well at stand-off and hard-working forward Jordan Herve, now aged 31, put in a big shift over the whole 80 minutes.

The other Cockermouth tries came from Jamie Lightfoot, Ben Irwin and Ollie Anderton.

Mitchell Todd (2), Paul McNally, Dean Haigh and Finn Barwise scored the Lowca tries with Keith Campbell kicking three goals.

The semi-finals will be played on June 11 with Cockermouth staging their tie at home to Wath Brow A.

The other semi-final will see Glasson Rangers entertaining favourites Distington.

It’s back to Premier Division rugby in the Holmen Iggesund Cumberland League next Saturday, May 7.

Glasson and Distington will have a sighter for their Cumbria Cup clash when they meet in Maryport while top game is likely to be Ellenborough v Wath Brow A.

Cockermouth entertain Aspatria while Lowca host Maryport.

The first round of the Cumbria Shield is still to be completed but one of the ties is scheduled for Friday, May 6.

Seaton A will host Cockermouth A which will only leave Millom A v Ellenborough A to be completed. The date of that game is being left to the clubs to play on a Saturday before June 11.Division One games next Saturday, May 7 are Kells A v Hensingham A and Ellenborough A v Egremont A.
