Windscale FC held a charity football match in aid of Ukraine

Windscale FC were proud to host a charity football match on Friday at Egremont’s Falcon Complex in support of Ukraine.

Rob Crone and Owen Adair set up the event which involved employees from Drigg’s Low Level Waste Repository, with the teams supplemented with local players from the Gosforth and Royal Oak clubs.

All those involved paid a fee to pay and a just giving page was set up to swell the funds.

Officials Lillas Hodgson, Joe Fell and Geoff Ellison

The three match officials, Joe Fell, Geoff Ellison and Lillias Hodgson, experiencing her first taste of adult football, gave their services free of charge.

On a lovely spring evening, the Blues triumphed 3-2 over the Greens after taking a 3-1 lead in the first half.

The result was of little consequence, and with around £400 collected on the night and the final amount still to be declared, the cause is the real winner.
