The Liberal Democrats have elected their leadership team for the new Cumberland Council.
At the elections last Thursday the party had its best performance for years, gaining four seats on the new council representing Dalston and Burgh, Corby and Hayton, Longtown and Stanwix Urban.
Councillor Tim Pickstone, who represents Longtown ward, will be the Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group.

Councillor Roger Dobson, who represents Corby and Hayton ward, will be the Deputy Group Leader.
Councillor Pickstone said: “This is a really important time for local government in our area, and it is so important that the new Cumberland Council gets off to a good start when it takes up its duties next April.
“The new council will be run by the Labour Party, and we look forwards to working across party where we can in the best interests of the new council. Where we need to we will provide strong and constructive opposition and make sure the areas that we represent get a fair deal from Cumberland.”
