Penrith’s Salvation Army

Penrith’s Salvation Army is appealing for more volunteers.

The Salvation Army, on Hunters Lane, said it had a number of volunteers offering support across various departments but due to increasing numbers of people seeking help it still needs more.

Volunteering opportunities include supporting weekly activities, foodbank and coffee mornings.

Volunteers with experience across a range of sectors including customer service, catering and retail, and those looking to gain work experience would also be very welcome.

Major Alan Donaldson, joint church leader of The Salvation Army in Penrith, said: “Our volunteers play a big part in our offering to the local community; we simply wouldn’t be able to do the work that we do without them and the support that each and every volunteer gives to us, giving up their time, is inspirational.

“The community centre here in Penrith is a hub of activity and for us to continue our work in the local community we’re on the lookout for more volunteers. We believe that everybody has something that they can give; whether you have specific skills to offer or have just retired and are looking to keep busy or improve your own wellbeing, get in touch as we would love to hear from you!”

Anyone interested in supporting The Salvation Army in Penrith in a volunteering role is encouraged to contact the corps direct by calling 01768 866732.
