Strong field at Sandale Heights for Hound Trailing Association meet

The HTA meeting at Sandale Heights provided James McClelland with another win by his senior table leader Duchess Ava.

It was her sixth win of the season and she had the consistent Kirkhead Rebel as her nearest challenger in second place in a strong field of 33.

Duncan Chisholm’s hound Fly Me To the Moon won the maidens by about 10 lengths from Thorn Pop.

Silver Streak owned by Darren McMaster, Anthony Skelton, Sadie Wilson and Phil Graham seems to be coming into form and scored a second win in as many weeksm in the pups.

The Dearham hound had a couple of lengths in hand of Huntsman’s Rebel, one of the leading pups so far this season.

Silver Streak could be one to watch over the next week at Bridekirk and again at Sandale Heights for the HTA Jubilee trails.

Thorn Lightning. owned by Joanna and Molly Burrows, took the honours in the puppy maiden trail, finishing head of Malcom Holmes’ Sweet Dreams.

Denton Bilbao, owned by Lee Wall, won the open restricted by ten lengths as Malcom Holmes had to settle for another runner-up with Sir Robert.

The next meeting is at Bridekirk on Monday night when the first trail will set off at 6.30pm.

The Cockermouth and Workington Area, along with the Cockermouth Supporters club, are holding Jubilee-themed trails on Thursday, also at Bridekirk. Prize money is £50 per trail with additional trophies, rosettes and medals for all ticketing hounds. The first race takes place at 1pm.

Racing returns to Sandale Heights on the Saturday as the HTA puts on a special Jubilee Trail with prize money for each race of £160 and again there will be special trophies, rosettes and medals for all ticketing hounds. First race 1pm.

Hounds – 1. Duchess Ava; 2. Kirkhead Rebel; 3. Martha; 4. Huntsman’s Quartz; 5. Eleanor’s Lass; 6. Howgill Lill. 33 ran, time 28.55.

Maidens – 1. Fly Me To The Moon; 2. Thorn Pop; 3. Eagle Star; 4. Thorn Crackle; 5. Denton Shamrock; 6. Thorn Snap. 13 ran, time 31.50.

Pups – 1. Silver Streak; 2. Huntsman’s Rebel; 3. Foxparke Mysteriously; 4. Mitredale Shade; 5. Huntsman’s Rascal; 6. Ned’s Gain. 21 ran, time 21.39.

Puppy Maiden – 1. Thorn Lightning; 2. Sweet Dreams; 3. Eagle Love; 4. Foxparke Jiggered; 5. SAS; 6. Clementine. 10 ran, time 22.29.

Open Restricted – 1. Denton Bilbao; 2. Sir Robert; 3. Mitredale Favour; 4. Foxparke Bugga Boo; 5. Oakbank Izzy; 6. Blue Diamond. 36 ran, time 20.13.
