The trails at Bridekirk produced some surprise winners and exciting finishes with jubilee fun as well for the spectators.
Getting the meeting was underway was the senior trail which was a really tight affair with Graeme Little’s 8/1 shot Jenny’s Quest just touching off Ian Bell’s Howgill Lil by a head.
In the senior maidens Lee Wall’s Denton Shamrock was another surprise winner, coming clear at odds of 5/1 to beat Colin Satterthwaite’s Thorn Pop. Colin also had two other ticketing hounds Thorn Snap and Thorn Crackle.
The puppy trail wasn’t so close as in in-form Silver Streak was an easy winner from Foxparke Beep Beep owned by the Napier family.
Alan Blacklock’s Busy Again won the puppy maidens by a short head from Eagle Love, owned by the Bryden family.
The meeting concluded with the open restricted and the 29 runners were headed by Alan O’Fee’s Barncroft Express.
HTA secretary Fiona Dixon said: “There were plenty of dogs, 81 in all, and it was a good day’s trailing. There was also a fancy dress competition and a tea party for the junior members. We are all now looking forward to the Jubilee Trails at Sandale Heights on Saturday.
