The Hound Trailing Association held their latest meeting last night in the picturesque surroundings of Buttermere with 39 hounds contesting the three trails.
In the opening senior trail Jenny’s Quest was made favourite and came with a lead on the finish.
As the lead diminished the fast-finishing Winterfell, owned by Barry Laidler and Caroline Clough, gradually caught up and just got past before the line to snatch the win.
A number of pups made a mistake on the trail before dropping down to the finish but it was the kennel of Denise Bland that came good with all three of her hounds finishing in the first three places.
The right one won as far as she was concerned as Huntsman’s Rebel moved two clear again of Ned’s Gain in the Puppy Championship after his win at Potter’s Park on Monday.
In the open maiden race Christine Brownlee’s Malia led onto the finish and maintained first place to win nicely from Tom and Ryan Bell’s Ron.
The next meeting for the HTA is at Potter’s Park on Saturday when the prestigious Dog Produce will be run.
