St Mary’s Hospice in Ulverston has been able to transform its patient bathroom into a wellbeing spa, thanks to a £21,000 grant.
The hospice was given £21,819 from the Morrisons Foundation for the work, which it said will help increase dignity and comfort for its patients.
Work includes a new bath, replacement hoist, décor and lighting.
Jo Blake, recently retired head of clinical, helped to officially open the new refurbishment.
She said: “Patients benefit from having a bath in so many ways. Previously the room felt too clinical, and we had the opportunity to do something different. We are just so so grateful to the Morrisons Foundation for funding enabling us to create a bath/spa experience.”
Katy Millard, health and safety and facilities manager, added: “This enables patients who may not be able to have a bath at home enjoy the experience again.”
