David Gleave, of Cockermouth, won this week’s Keswick 10-mile time trial organised by Velo Club Cumbria.
Gleave covered the flat 10-mile course in good conditions on the A66 in a time of 20 minutes and 24 seconds at an average speed of 29.41mph.
That performance squeezed the in-form Luke Johnston into second place by a narrow margin of just 10 seconds.
David Hill was third in a time of 21:38 while the fastest female rider was again Sue Toppin with a time of 26:29.
VCC’s club time trials continue on Tuesday July 5 with the Keswick 25-mile time trial. Sign on is from 6pm on the old road adjacent to the A66 at Braithwaite.
