Staff sickness has forced rail firm TransPennine Express to cancel services – and it is asking passengers to travel only if their journey is essential this weekend.
It said increased levels of staff sickness meant that it would be running a reduced number of services across all routes tomorrow, Saturday, July 2 and Sunday, July 3. Bikes will also not be allowed on board trains over the weekend.
Customers planning to travel to an event this weekend, are asked to instead, seek alternative transport.
It has apologised to its customers and asked people to check their train before they travel via the website or National Rail Enquiries.
