The first two Cup finals of the season will be held at Lowca.
The BARLA Cumbria Shield final between Hensingham A and Kells A will kick off at 1pm tomorrow, July 2.
Then the BARLA Cumbria Cup final follows at 3pm between Distington and Wath Brow A.
In the big game Distington will start favourites having won all their games to date, impressive in most of their performances.
Carl Hewer, a former coach and still involved at the club said: “We will be at full strength and the lads are looking forward to the challenge. We had a good session with Whitehaven last night so all the final prep has been completed.”
Without a first team game Wath Brow might have been able to use one or two senior players who hadn’t played sufficient Conference games to rule them out.
But that option isn’t open to them as the first team squad are away on Nathan Lucock’s stag weekend.
Kells will be expected to pick up the Shield as Hensingham have been struggling recently and last week had to pull out of a fixture with Kells A because they could not raise a team.
There are two games scheduled in the Holmen Iggesund Cumberland ARL Premier Division.
Champions Ellenborough will want to keep pressure on title rivals Distington by taking maximum points from their town derby clash at Maryport.
Cockermouth and Aspatria should get used to each other because they will meet again in the League on Wednesday night in the return fixture.
Hornets coach Hitro Okesene is in a good place at the moment after his team put together back to back wins.
“I think they’ve realised what it takes to win games and they have shown a lot more desire and grit in these last two games.
“It’s also helped that we’ve had some added experience with players from the town rugby union team joining us and they’ve done well.
“Unfortunately one of them, Ross Barton, suffered a knee injury on Saturday and is looking at six weeks out.
“But we’ve just signed a new forward, James Fitt, a back row forward from Wigton RUFC and he looks useful,” said Okesene.
Egremont and Wath Brow have already played their NCL Premier Division fixture so both are without a game tomorrow.
In Division One Kells are also without a game which gives them time to regroup and move on after two successive defeats.
After Saturday’s 19-6 defeat at Oulton Raiders, Kells coach Peter Smith said: “It was one of those weeks where a lot of players were unavailable but even though we had 14 missing it wasn’t a bad team we put out and they played well despite losing.
“It’s a big month coming up because we have games against leaders Hull Dockers and Wigan St. Patricks who are two points behind us.”
From leading the Division Two table early in June, Barrow Island are now second but five points behind Heworth who have taken over in pole position.
The Islanders are at home tomorrow to mid-table Woolston Rovers who are five points adrift from a game more.
There’s a tasty Cumbrian derby in prospect at Seaton in Division Three where Millom are the visitors.
Millom have improved noticeably in the last month or so and up to fifth are just two points behind Seaton, albeit from a game more.
A win would put Seaton third in their quest for promotion in their first season in the NCL.
Hensingham are in danger of being cut adrift with Eastmoor at the bottom of the table and tomorrow have the daunting prospect of facing a home game against runaway leaders East Leeds who have lost only once in 14 games.
