Workington and Cockermouth enjoyed comfortable victories last night in the latest round of T20 matches.
In the west group Workington beat Egremont by 77 runs at the Valentine Ground.
At Fitz Park Keswick went down by seven wickets to Cockermouth.
Workington had elected to bat first and scored freely from the start with Kristian Moffat (41), Jake Daniel (22) and pro Lahiru Dilshan (51no) all enjoying their time in the middle.
Moffat and Dilshan each hit three fours and a six, with the Sri Lankan clearing the fenced wall into the police station with his biggest strike.
Coady Scott plugged away admirably for 2-20 from his four overs as Workington ended their innings on 138-4.
Egremont lost Billy Thompson in the second over and a lot was going to depend on Matthew Hunter (10) and Javon Grosvenor (12).
They put on 23 for the second wicket, which proved to be Egremont’s best stand, but found it difficult to keep up with the asking rate.
Jack Thompson (10) was only the third player to reach double figures as the tail crumbled with David Pearce taking 5-4 from his three overs at the end.
He bowled Lee Cruden off the last ball of the final over and only 61 on the scoreboard.
Keswick chose to bat after winning the toss against Cockermouth and were disappointed to reach only 102-7 in their 20 overs.
Occasional bowlers Alex Grainger (2-6) and Gareth White (2-17) did well from their seven overs while Matthew Siddall took 2-26.
Ben Sharp (22) and Stephen Hindmarch (22) were the main contributors for Keswick.
In reply Cockermouth didn’t hang about and James McGown’s opening over went for 15 runs.
Greg Platten went on to make 23 before he was bowled by James Beckingham off the first ball of the fourth over – only the 12th ball he had faced.
Opening partner Mikyle Louis was eventually even more destructive. He reached 50 off 23 balls, which included two fours and five sixes before Glen Weightman had him caught by Risith Upamal.
By then Cockermouth were almost home and it was the normal openers Grainger and White who saw their side comfortably over the line with only 10.5 overs used.
