The owner of a broken down vessel and a Maryport Rescue volunteer were thrown into the water after it began to capsize off the West Cumbrian coast.
Maryport Rescue was called at around 2.50pm by the town’s harbour staff, who said a small boat had broken down off the piers.
The volunteers launched the Eon Spirit of Maryport and when they reached the vessel, found that it had lost its engine only minutes after launching.
As the lifeboat was attempting to establish a tow, the vessel capsized, throwing the owner and a member of the crew into the water.

Maryport Rescue said: “Both were quickly recovered from the water before the casualty was brought ashore and handed to members of our shore crew and colleagues from Maryport Coastguard Rescue Team.
“Following the handover, the lifeboat put back to sea and recovered the capsized vessel and towed it back to Maryport. Maryport Coastguard and our shore crew worked with the lifeboat to reright the casualty vessel before returning it to its mooring in the marina.”
