Workington Town slumped to another heavy home defeat as they went down 38-0 to Widnes Vikings.
They had expected to have two new players on loan from Catalan Dragons but they were unable to appear as their visas/work permits were not in order.
Widnes were full value for the win although Town played a lot better in the second half.
They matches the Vikings set for set and although they were unable to prise open the visitors defence were much harder to breakdown themselves.
Sitting on a 26-0 lead at half-time Widnes did not score again until the last 12 minutes of the game.
Widnes had gone in front on 13 minutes when a little kick through from Matty Smith hit the padding on the post and rebounded for Matty Fozard to dot down. Jack Owens converted.
Owens added to the Vikings lead on 23 minutes when he put over a penalty.
Widnes continued to force the pace and they scored a second try on 29 minutes when Sam Wilde crossed wind out and Owens landed the extras from the touchline.
The Vikings were in the ascendency now and they scored two further tries before half-time.
After 33 minutes Kenny Baker went in for the third Widnes touchdown and two minutes from the hooter Fozard grabbed his second.
Owens popped over both conversions and at 26-0 the game looked to be over as a contest.
It was much more of a contest after the change-round, with both sides going set for set without changing the score-line.
Although they competed much better Town were not really capable of creating enough chances and Widnes dealt comfortably with their best attacks.
There was no change in the score until the 68th minute when Kieran Dixon went in and Owens converted.
Six minutes later Wilde helped himself to his second try and Owens continued his 100 per cent record from the kicking tee with his seventh goal – the sixth conversion.
