Eagle Girl is the 2022 Bitch Produce champion after winning the title at the HTA’s major meeting held at Dubbs Lane, Windermere.
The Eagle team – Mark, Linda, Georgia and Josh – were delighted to follow up their success in last week’s International meeting and a win in mid-week at Wardhall.
The kennel is clearly in good form with Eagle Love taking the puppy maiden at the International and Eagle Girl also leading home the open pups on Thursday.
Most of the registered pups contested the Bitch Produce, among them table leader Huntsman’s Rebel but she wasn’t able to get into the tickets.
Silver Streak, another pup who has been running well recently, had to settle for sixth of 18 on this occasion.
Eagle Girl showed with the lead on the finish and she went on to win well from Huntsman’s Rally and Eden Redarna.
There was double joy for Mark Bryden as he bred the winner from his own litter.
The Bitch Produce was the stand-out trail in what proved a brilliant day’s racing, at an outstanding venue.
The day had started with 16 seniors being slipped and Kirkhead Rebel, on home ground, was sent off favourite.
Lying a handy eighth when they went past the spectators for the first time, the favourite didn’t show however at the business end and seemed to be showing signs of a shoulder injury when eventually finishing out of the tickets.
It was Denis Peare and Jackie Gill’s Miterdale Duchess who came with the lead and took the honours from Ian Bell’s Howgill Lil.
Monsoon had been successful at the International and continued her winning ways for Christine Brownlee in the senior maidens, finishing in front of Tom Bell’s Ron.
Tom and his family travel up from Yorkshire and have their dogs registered with the HTA as well as owning other dogs registered with the Yorkshire Association.
The open puppy race was won by the Moore family’s Ned’s Gain, the leading dog pup in the championship table. He finished nicely clear of Joanna and Molly Burrows’ Thorn Thunder.
The biggest field of the day contested the open restricted when 32 were slipped and were led in by Carol and Stanley Jackson’s Lady Grace from Donna Bingham’s Oakbank Izzy.
Jonty Moore and family completed a double in the final trail for veterans as former senior champion Crazy was involved in a serious battle for the line with General James.
In the end Crazy just edged it after a neck and neck charge for the line.
