The Untold Orchestra, is set to bring the music of Abba and the magic of Disney to Whitehaven later this year.
They will perform two shows on Sunday September 11 and as part of the line-up of entertainment for the Whitehaven Alive weekend.
The orchestra is a Manchester-based collaborative, made up of musicians with a common aim of redefining the role of an orchestra in the 21st century by making music accessible to everyone while having fun.
The Sunday musical extravaganza will be split into two parts:
A daytime family Disney-themed performance, Disney: An Orchestral Rendition, in conjunction with local businesses Darling Manor and When You Believe.
Guests will be able to meet the Ice Princesses and Starlight the unicorn before joining in with the 16-piece orchestra and singers’ renditions of some classic Disney anthems.
This will be followed by the finale to the Whitehaven Alive weekend, when The Untold Orchestra will recreate the music of Abba to have everybody dancing, singing, and having a real nostalgic trip back to enjoy some of the most iconic, timeless tunes of the last 50 years.
Untold Artistic director Sam Davies said: “We’re excited to be heading to Whitehaven to perform our Abba and Disney shows as part of what’s shaping up to be an amazing festival weekend.
“Hopefully this can be the starting point of us performing and delivering exciting projects in Whitehaven more regularly!”

Whitehaven Alive is in partnership with Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners and is set to welcome tens of thousands of people. The festival will feature famous faces, live entertainment, food and drink villages, Cumbrian producers, and street theatre.
Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners’ chief executive John Baker said: “We are thrilled to be part of Whitehaven Alive and look forward to welcoming everyone to the harbour to enjoy the food and drink village, entertainment, and ticketed events – The Untold Orchestra will be bringing something fresh, different and unique for its first visit to Whitehaven and we hope it may be the first of many.”
“One of the objectives of the weekend is to celebrate the fact that we are able to come together as a community again, and this comes on the back of other successful events, such as the recent Harbour Fest and regular Continental Markets.”
Co-founder Andrea Winders said: “Whitehaven has a magic about it, and this weekend will be our chance to share this with everyone in the local area.”
