Carlisle City boss Jim Nichols is pleased with his side’s opening two performances in pre-season friendlies.
The Northern League Division Two champions have beaten Birtley 5-3 and followed-up with a 6-0 victory over Lochmaben.
Nichols feels it will be a bit tougher on Saturday when they play Cleator Moor Celtic and follow-up on the Tuesday against Workington Reds.
“The pleasing thing was that because of holidays we were nine players short on Saturday and 12 on Tuesday, yet we were able to win the games.
“We know about the lads who were missing, they helped us win the League last season, so it was an opportunity for some new faces to step in and show us what they are capable of.
“Mikey Williamson is just a young lad who has played at Penrith and Queen of the South and offers us something just a bit different upfront.
“Adam Gordon is a defender who can play anywhere along the back four and has joined from Dalbeattie. He got himself a goal at Lochmaben.
“I’m happy with what I’ve seen in those two games. When everyone is back we will have an excellent squad who can give a good account of themselves in Northern League Division One.
“We are not actively looking for anyone else, but of course if anyone comes and asks for a chance we will look at them.”
Nichols is gearing his squad for the start of the Northern League on July 30 when they entertain Sunderland RCA in the First Division.
