Carlisle United wrapped up a clear-cut 9-0 win at Kendal Town to record their second pre-season win.
Once again manager Paul Simpson virtually able to field two separate line-ups in each half although new keeper Tomas Holy and striker Kris Dennis got an hour each.
Simpson, however, was unable to use Taylor Charters, Sam Fishburn and Omari Patrick as they sat out again with injury issues. Keeper Scott Simons will have his first run-out at Workington on Saturday.
Although Kendal started brightly enough Carlisle were soon dominating the contest and new signing Sonny Hilton gave a sign of things to come with a snap shot which keeper James McClenaghan did well to turn away.
It led to the opening goal, however, on nine minutes as from the Brennan Dickenson’s corner Kristian Dennis’ flick was blocked by the Kendal keeper but Tobi Sho-Silva knocked in the rebound.
McLenaghan was in action again to keep out another goal-bound effort from Dennis but United did double the lead on 22 minutes with a well-worked goal.
Sho-Silva and Dickenson linked cleverly after a Jon Mellish surge and Dennis scored with a close-range header.
Four minutes later it was 3-0 as Hilton cleverly took a ball into the box, lost his man and fired home impressively.
It had been a high tempo start from Carlisle with Kendal unable to get any telling possession and on 28 minutes Jordan Gibson was the provider of the fourth with a good ball into the box for Sho-Silva to force home from three yards.
Hilton had been impressive and on 32 minutes he scored his second although it owed much to a fierce shot from Dennis which the keeper could only get a hand to and Hilton stabbed into an empty net.
Kendal might have had a consolation at the end of the half but after showing good pace to get into the box Finn Lynch could not find Steve Yawson with a low pull back which was behind the striker.
It was business as usual in the second half with Carlisle setting the pace but it took until the 72nd minute for them to score again.
Kai Nugent and Ryan Edmondson linked-up well before young Nic Bollado showed composure to hold off a defender and fire home.
It was lucky seven for Carlisle on 79 minutes when Bollado created an opportunity for Jamie Devitt to net and four minutes later the same player hammered in his second.
Kendal could have got on the score-sheet when Shaun Sailor broke away but he was denied one-on-one by replacement keeper Gabe Breeze,
Devitt finished the game with a hat-trick as he tried one from distance and it skidded home.
