Tesco is set to close its Carlisle city centre branch later this year.
The supermarket chain said it was going to shut the Tesco Metro store on Victoria Viaduct, but was ‘actively working’ on opening a new Tesco Express branch soon.
It said it would offer existing Tesco Metro staff alternative jobs where possible.
