Several bus services have been cancelled today due to staff shortages and sickness.

Stagecoach are facing ongoing staffing issues and a number of bus services have been cancelled daily in recent weeks.

The company have apologised for any inconvenience caused.

The service 6 from Barrow at 8:40 and the 9:23 from Ulverston will not operate today due to a number of drivers falling sick and being unavailable.

In addition, the 4:08 service 29, 4:36 service 1, 5:05 service 2, 5:39 service 3 and the 6:06 service 3A will be cancelled alongside the 3:26 Workington to Frizington, the 4:35 Frizington to Maryport and the 6:20 Maryport to Workington due to staff shortages.

A spokesperson for Stagecoach Cumbria & North Lancashire said: “As with many industries across the country, we are continuing to face a short-term staffing situation that is out of our control due to the shortage of professional drivers. As a result, this is having an impact on our bus services in Cumbria.

“Our team are working incredibly hard given the current circumstances to ensure the vast majority of local services are running. We will continue to update passengers on services impacted via our website and social media channels with as much notice as possible.

“We are also taking proactive steps to alleviate the situation by recruiting new drivers and are focused on getting our new team members through our training programmes and on the road as soon as we can.”
