Furness had a comfortable win over Lindal Moor in their T20 South Group clash last night.
They won by 74 runs to top the group, and not for the first time this season there was a starring role from Nathan Waterston.
The Cumbria League’s leading batsman hit 61 off 40 deliveries, including seven fours and two sixes as Furness decided to bat first and make 141-5 in their 20 overs.
Normally a specialist opener Waterston came in at 32-3 and when he was fifth out Furness had moved on to 121.
Bradley Stephens was Lindal’s most successful bowler taking 2-22 from his four overs.
Waterston went on to star with the ball for the home side, coming on as seventh change and taking 4-4 from two overs. Only wicket-keeper Liam Curwen did not ball as ten Furness bowlers had two overs each with Lindal all out for 67 off the last delivery of the game.
Cameron Troughton (14) and James Hale (10) were the only batsmen in double figures.
There was a cracking game in the West Group where Egremont beat visitors Whitehaven by three wickets with just two balls to spare.
A remarkable innings from professional Timycen Maruma was the highlight of the Whitehaven innings when they were asked to bat first.
He made 72 not out off 33 balls and shared in a breezy second wicket partnership with Chase Young (36) which lifted the Whitehaven score to 150-4.
Egremont lost four early wickets but were carried to victory by another of the night’s eye-catching knocks. Billy Thompson fired 73 from 40 balls, which included seven sixes and four fours.
Valuable support came from Coady Scott (33no) who was there at the end to get his side over the line at 154-7. William Crookall took 3-20 from his four overs.
