Hot weather reduced entries at the HTA’s Helton meeting on Sunday, although the trails began a little later than normal.
For Tuesday’s meeting at Kirkstone – with the hottest day of the year (and of all time) being forecast, the first senior slip has been put back 30 minutes to 7pm.
The pups and open restricted trails will follow on, although Wednesday and Thursday’s meetings are still starting at 6pm with cooler weather expected.
At Helton the opening senior trail only had five entries but Miterdale Duchess seemed to cope very well with the heat to win for Denis Peare and Jackie Gill.
Yorkshire enthusiasts, Tom and Sarah Ryan picked up second place with Winterfell.
The maidens went to Mark Bryden and Linda Neale’s Eagle Star, which was some compensation after failing to finish on Saturday after running well the previous Tuesday.
In the pups, Denise Bland’s Huntsman’s Rebel continued her winning run and in doing so extended her lead in the Championship.
Kennelmate Huntsman’s Rally finished second as only four of the five entries got round.
The open non-winners and open restricted at least made double figures with their entries.
James Irving’s Overwater Hunter finished ahead of Neil Brown’s Dundee in the field of 14 non-winners.
There were 15 for the open restricted and they were led in by Malcolm and Anne Holmes’ Sir Robert from Lee Wall’s Denton Balboa.
