Fijian forward Joe Drodrolagi will not be joining Whitehaven after all.
The club has announced that the 27-year-old Drodrolagi has picked up a training injury which is likely to keep him out of action for four to six weeks.
Drodrolagi was training to keep himself fit ahead of joining up with his new club at the LEL Arena but suffered the unfortunate injury over the weekend.
The signing deadline is set for Friday so Whitehaven say there is no time for him to recover and be able to join the club for the remainder of the 2022 season.
Whitehaven officials have sent best wishes for a speedy recovery to the powerful Fijian who had been expected to make an impact for the Cumbrians.
Next up for Haven is the toughest of tests against League leaders and title favourites, big spending Leigh Centurions who visit the LEL Arena on Sunday.
Haven were encouraged by their first half performance on Sunday when they led Leigh’s title rivals Featherstone 12-10 at half-time but know they will have to go up another notch against Leigh.
After that Haven have seven League games left which offer plenty of opportunities to improve on their nine points.
They finish off with Workington at the Summer Bash on July 31; Sheffield (A) on August 7; Widnes (H), August 14; Bradford (A), August 21; London Broncos (H), August 28; Workington (A), September 4 and Newcastle (H), September 11.
