Furness retained the Robin Dunn Memorial Trophy when they again beat Workington in the T20 final at the Valentine Ground.
In a tense finish the holders beat the hosts by six runs after both had got through their semi-finals earlier in the day.
Furness had decided to bat first in the final and were bowled-out for 94 off the penultimate ball of the final over.
Professional Saad Khan (26) was top scorer and from when he was out at 68-4 Furness only added another 26 runs – but it was enough. Ben Scott had taken 3-24 for Workington.
Workington had lost both openers at 14 and pro Dilshan, who had shone in the semi-final, proved to be their top scorer again with 25.
But Workington kept losing wickets and despite a bold bid from Joshua Burns (18no), who hit his side’s only six, they finished short on 88-8. Harris Woods (2-16) and Saad (2-19) were the most successful Furness bowlers.
Workington had got through by beating Cockermouth by eight runs after they had posted 120-8 – which was actually to prove the top score of the day.
Professional Lahiru Dilshan (43) was the mainstay, facing just 34 balls and hitting six fours and figuring in a fourth wicket stand of 59 with Adam Chambers (20).
Wicket-keeper Sam Bates (18) and Josh Burns (14no) also added a quick 35 for the seventh wicket, which included a six apiece – the only ones in the Workington innings.
There were two good bowling efforts from Cockermouth as Josh Brown had 3-20 and Gabriel Drimmie took 3-17.
Gareth White filled the Dilshan role for Cockermouth and when he was fifth out the opener had made exactly half of the 112 runs on the board.
The best partnership was with Sam Sharp (30) as they put on 84 for the fourth wicket but Cockermouth fell short on 112-6. Lewis Hull was the most successful Workington bowler with 3-19.
In the other semi-final Furness beat Haverigg by four wickets with 2.5 overs to spare.
Haverigg had been put in to bat and finished on 104-8 with five of the first six batsmen in double figures led by Dale Graham (25).
George Smith (2-8), pro Saad Khan (2-15), and Garry Thompson (2-22) were the main wicket takers for Furness.
Opener Liam Curwen (34) was fifth out and at 83 Furness were well on their way to the victory. Robbie Evans (4-25) was Haverigg’s main bowler.
