A second Workington Town player who has left Derwent Park has signed for another club.
Ciaran Walker is returning to his amateur roots with Seaton Rangers after a proposed switch to Whitehaven in the Championship fell through.
Walker’s move to Town’s local rivals wasn’t done in time to beat last Friday’s deadline.
Former Town team-mate Curtis Teare, however, has joined Whitehaven although he won’t be playing in the Cumbria derby at the Summer Bash on Sunday.
Walker will now be joining Seaton in the National Conference with immediate effect and will be in the squad to face Hensingham on Saturday in a Third Division derby.
Initially plying his trade with Newcastle Thunder, and after impressing for Seaton last year, he made an instant impact after signing for Workington Town.
He won the man of the match award when they defeated Whitehaven to lift the Ike Southward Memorial Trophy.
Seaton chairman Peter Gilmour said: “He went on to play a number of games for Town in which he caught the eye.
“An outstanding scrum-half who can also play at hooker he will bring his undoubted class to the team at a crucial point of the season.”
Coach Ryan Campbell added: “Ciaran coming back into the squad is a huge boost for us and brings even more competition for places in our run-in towards the end of season play-offs.”
