Former Carlisle United and Barrow midfielder Mike Jones has a new club for the 2022/23 season.
After a successful trial he has signed for National League side.
The 34-year-old has joined on a free transfer, penning a one-year deal, after being released by League Two Barrow at the end of last season.
The central midfielder has been with Chesterfield throughout pre-season and he has done enough to be offered a deal.
Before joining Barrow, he has also played with Tranmere Rovers, Bury, Sheffield Wednesday, Oldham and Carlisle.
He becomes Chesterfield’s 12th summer signing as they prepare for the start of the season on Saturday when they travel to National League newcomers Dorking Wanderers.
On signing, Jones said: “Having been here since day one, I’ve felt part of the squad. They’ve made it a really easy transition for me.”
Jones played most games for Bury (145) but between 2016 and 2020 played 132 times for Carlisle.
He had two injury-ravaged seasons at Barrow when he played 16 times.
