Barrow Raiders are preparing to induct three former players into the club’s Hall of Fame.

Walter Scott, Pat Trainor and Geoff Luxon will be honoured on Friday, September 2.

The event is also a recognition of Tee Ritson breaking the club record for most tries in a game with seven against West Wales Raiders – a match which also sealed the club’s promotion from Betfred League One last year.

The Barrow Raiders Marquee will host the event, sponsored by Barrow Eats, with tickets on sale for £10 each or a table of 10 for £100, with a hot buffet meal provided.

Walter Scott sits 11th in the list of all-time appearance-makers for the Raiders, and is also the club’s fourth-highest try-scorer with 175 tries.

His career spanned over a decade from 1922 to 1933 and he quickly gained a reputation as a free-scoring wingman.

It was only by virtue of his north-east upbringing that he failed to gain representative honours at County level, and luck was against him appearing in major finals, with a string of semi-final appearances, losing in the 1923, 1924 and 1930 Challenge Cups, and Lancashire Cups of 1924 and 1925.

Pat Trainor joined the club in 1987 and had a career spanning ten seasons.

Trainor was one of the most popular players to play for Barrow and stayed loyal to the club when he was attracting offers from elsewhere, even during some of the club’s darkest days.

He was a fearless, speedy, resilient player who notched up 199 appearances for the club, scoring 51 tries.

He was a character both on and off the field and has remained a big supporter of the club.

Geoff Luxon joined the club as a trialist from London Broncos and quickly became a fan’s favourite.

The Aussie Cockney quickly became settled in the Barrow area and still lives in the town. He made 257 appearances for the club, scoring 20 tries, and regularly ran and tackled above his weight.

He enjoyed a well deserved testimonial in 2007 and will be remembered as one of the best players of his generation during his time at the club.
