Carlisle have booked Travis Townsend, a South African all-rounder for their Cumbria League Premier Division game on Saturday at home to Wigton.
The League leaders still have to look for a sub professional after skipper and pro Michael Slack broke his toe playing for Cumbria 10 days ago.
They had booked Townsend’s fellow South African Ockert Erasmus for last week’s game at Cleator, but like the rest of the programme it was washed out.
Erasmus is pro at Burnley, who are mid-table in Division One while Townsend plays for Division Two leaders Littleborough.
Townsend, 36, hails from Cape Town and he has played first class matches for Western Province as well as games for Glamorgan and Essex 2nd X1s.
He has played in the Lancashire area for a number of years, first joining Littleborough in 2019.
Carlisle lead the Cumbria Premier Division by five points after all last week’s games were rained-off.
Littleborough currently lead Division Two of the Lancashire League by 12 points.
He has scored 630 runs so far (100 short of Erasmus actually) and taken 18 wickets.
Incidentally former Keswick pro Geeth Kumara, who left Fitz Park after ten years, has scored 1196 runs for Colne who are third bottom of Division Two. He has an average of 99.67.
Carlisle make two other changes to the line-up with Alex Raybould and Fraser Conn unavailable so they are replaced by James Dawson and Phil Frazer.
Nico Watt, who badly gashed the webbing in his hand playing for Cumbria, has been passed fit to play against his former club.
Cockermouth, Carlisle’s nearest rivals, have a trip to bottom side Whitehaven in prospect.
Their overseas amateur, big-hitting Mikyle Louis suffered a hamstring injury last month but is hoping to return to action. He has a fitness test tonight.
Keswick are also still in title contention, a further two points behind Cockermouth and they have a home game with Cleator.
Reigning champions Furness may have too much work to do to retain their title as they trail the leaders by 25 points. They visit lowly Dalton.
But the big game in the relegation zone is at Haverigg where Egremont are the visitors. Haverigg (9th) are one place and six points better off than Egremont with Dalton and Whitehaven below them both.
Workington beat Millom at the Valentine Ground in a low-scoring game and they meet up again in the return fixture in the south of the county.
