Former Workington Town winger/centre Curtis Teare is set to make his Whitehaven debut tomorrow.
Teare, a former Wath Brow amateur, switched to Whitehaven ahead of last week’s Cumbrian derby at the Summer Bash but it was agreed he would not play against his former club.
But with another week’s training alongside his new team-mates Teare, whose dad Scott played for Haven, is ready to make his first start at Sheffield.
He joins two other players in the 21-strong squad whose fathers previously played for Haven – full-back Luke Broadbent and winger Andrew Bulman.
In-form Bulman scored two fine tries in the win over Workington at Headingley but Broadbent will be signing off afterwards for two matches after copping a suspension.
Whitehaven are still without influential Papua New Guinea star Dion Aiye who completes his two match ban.
Teare is the only change from the squad which beat Town last week as he comes in for the Hull FC hooker Jacob Hookem.
The squad now has four players who have also appeared for Workington this season – Teare, Broadbent, Curtis Davies and Perry Singleton.
Squad: Bradley, Broadbent, Bulman, Cooper, Davies, Dixon, Eccleston, Evans, Graham, Holliday, King, Martin, McAvoy, Olstrom, Teare, Singleton, M. Walker, T. Walker, Wilkinson, Williams.
Sheffield, who won 44-6 at the LEL Stadium in March, will choose from: Guzdek, Jones-Bishop, Bower, Bass, Thackeray, Douglas, Dickinson, J. Farrell, Hodgson, Halafihi, Wood, Broadbent, Kirk, Welham, Johnson, Chrimes, Liu, Williams, Sheils, Holmes, Aston.
