A man in his 90s who was struck by a car on the A66 at Baron’s Hill near Stainton, Penrith, has died.
The pensioner, from Penrith, was walking when he was involved in the collision at 11am yesterday with a Skoda Fabia at Baron’s Hill.
He was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with life-threatening injuries, but he has now died.
The driver of the Skoda, a man in his 80s from Buxton, was uninjured.
The A66 was closed whilst officers conducted their enquiries. It reopened at around 5pm.
