Barrow Raiders are up to fifth in the Championship table after beating Batley Bulldogs who are now just a point ahead of them.

It finished 30-12 to the south Cumbrians as Batley suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time this season.

Barrow were playing down the slope in the first half and when they had an early opportunity to put points on the board from an offside decision Ryan Shaw accepted and put over the penalty.

The opening try came on 13 minutes after a break from Danny Langtree over the half-way line. He drew the home full-back before sending-in Luke Cresswell. Shaw converted.

Seven minutes later Barrow were in again. This time it was Ellis Gillam who did the spade-work and his popped pass was taken by Cresswell to score. Shaw converted.

When Batley did manage to exert some attacking pressure Barrow defended well until James Meadows found a gap and strode through for a try which Tom Gilmore converted.

Three minutes before the break some slick handling from Barrow released Shane Toal and he went in at the corner for an unconverted try.

It was 18-6 at the break but within three minutes Barrow were in again as Hakim Miloudi found space and dived over in the corner. Shaw converted.

Barrow had made a cracking start to the second-half and on 51 minutes they were in again with Shaw collecting a kick and diving over in at the corner for an unconverted try.

Although Batley claimed a second try by Kieran Buchanan, converted by Gilmore that was as close as they got.

Shaw closed the game out with a late penalty and he has now collected over 500 points for the Raiders.
