Refugees staged a protest on the roof of a Carlisle hotel.
The men were seen on the roof of the Milton Hilltop Hotel yesterday morning.
The hotel, just off London Road, is being used as a hostel for refugees while they wait for news of their immigration status.
It is understood police were called to the hotel after the men were seen.
A spokesman for Cumbria police said: “We were made aware of a protest involving a small number of people at a property in the London Road area of Carlisle.
“UK police has a long history of facilitating peaceful protest and upholding the right to protest, while balancing it with the duty to keep people safe and to seek to minimise disruption.
“Our officers liaised with other agencies and monitored the situation.”
Cumbria police added that the situation had now been resolved.
It is understood that the refugees were protesting about their living conditions at the hotel.
Government contractor Serco placed around 200 refugees in Carlisle in April.
A Cumbria County Council spokesman said: “We are aware of the peaceful protest at a property in the London Road area of Carlisle.
“We are working with SERCO, district council partners and local third sector organisations to support refugees and asylum seekers in Cumbria and ensure any concerns they have are listened to.”
