Second teams from Cockermouth and Egremont had a hit-out at Strawberry How ahead of the approaching new season.
It proved to be an entertaining game with the more experienced home side edging the contest 36-17.
The younger Egremont side, however, gave a good account of themselves, at times attacking with skill and defending solidly.
Chris Ivison, who had an eye-catching debut for Cockermouth, opened the scoring with a fine try under the posts.
Captain Olly Gray crossed twice with powerful close-range drives via the direct route while the brothers Fraser and Fin Murray showed how to finish out wide.
The sixth try came from the experienced Adam Brough who, despite not really starting his pre-season training, was able to shimmy and sprint clear to go over.
Luke Armstrong controlled the game from fly-half and he landed three conversions.

Egremont included 10 Colts in their line-up and scored tries through Sam Newby, Hayden Bound and Callum Aiken. Dane Richardson landed one conversion.
The Cockermouth club offered special thanks to Egremont for taking-on the fixture; to referees Mike Firby and Mike Edwards and club-house staff Julie, Cath and Suzanne who hosted the match.
